School children across our programme areas are taking a stand against air pollution by raising awareness about its health impacts and the effects of climate change through ERWAP educational infographics and creative learning tools.

ERWAP Energy Initiative (EEI) works at the grassroots level to provide age-appropriate environmental and climate change education, particularly in schools and community settings. By supporting children’s learning in safe and inclusive environments, the initiative helps young people understand how everyday practices—such as open waste burning and smoky cooking—affect health, the environment, and the climate.

Through school sessions, community outreach, radio programmes, and creative approaches such as storytelling and theatre, EEI supports children to share knowledge with their families and communities. Parents and community members have reported increased awareness of the health risks associated with air pollution, reductions in open waste burning, and greater interest in cleaner and safer cooking practices.

By combining education, creativity, and community engagement, ERWAP Energy Initiative helps foster long-term behaviour change while supporting healthier environments for children and families.
